Special attention to a few points is recommended. (1) Hole size is critical to allow the work material to flow. Use drill sizes recommended in the table for average work. If the % of thread desired is critical, make tests between theoretical drill sizes listed, since the flow of a given material cannot always be predicted. (2) Some metals will extrude above the mouth of the hole, so a chamfer or countersink is recommended prior to tapping.
