Contact is reversing and offers ranges of ±.030” in .001” models, ±.015” in .0005” models, and ±.4 mm in metric models. 3808, 3809, 3908 & 3909 DIAL TEST INDICATORS ● Three dovetail positioning mounts work with most existing test indicator accessories ● Precision gear-driven design with smooth, jeweled movement ● Contact points reverses automatically, always maintaining clockwise hand rotation ● Contacts are frictionally adjustable and replaceable comes with three hardened contact points. With contact points D and E, any outside surface may be checked including cutters, gears and racks. Contact point C with its smaller radius and diameter, is used on plain, uninterrupted surfaces. Bring the contact point against the work with just enough pressure to give the hand one full turn. Set the hand to zero by turning the indicator rim. This provides one full rotation of the hand both to the right and left of zero, showing a rise or drop in the work and the amount of variation. Sensitive, reliable and easy-to read, No. 196 Universal Dial Indicator adjusts to any angle. The slightest pressure on the contact point produces a movement of the hand on the dial. The indicator AGD Group 2 C, D, E: Contact Points H: 3/8 x 3/4 x 6 with upright spindle 5/16” dia. x 4.1/2” K: Snug with 1/4 & 5/16 holes L: Snug with 1/4 & 3/8 holes G: 5/16” dia. post 1.5/16” clamping capacity R: Contact Point Adapter w/4-48 thread. S: Adapter for contact points with metric threads. SLEEVE K- is used on 5/16” diameter surface gage spindles. SLEEVE L- is used on 3/8” spindles. CLAMP G- attaches the indicator to lathe and planer tools and milling arbors. HOLE ATTACHMENT F- lets the indicator be used over obstructions and inside holes to a depth of about 1.5/8”. By using a short length of round rod in sleeves K- and L- any No. 711 Last Word Indicator may be used with the attachments for the No. 196 Series Indicators.
