Made at Starrett Factory in China. The depth of holes, slots, shoulders and projections can be measured to .001” with these fine tools. No. 440 gages are furnished with a 2.1/2” base and No. 445 gages with 3, 4 or 6” bases. Each gage comes in three size ranges, 0 to 3” with 3 rods; 0 to 6” with 6 rods; and 0 to 9” with 9 rods. A lock nut holds the setting at the precise measurement desired. .001 GRADUATION, WITH RATCHET STOP AND LOCK NUT IN CASE. MICROMETER DEPTH GAGES NON-ROTATING BLADES No. 449 Series Non-rotating, blade type rods approximately .045” thick x 1/8” wide. By holding the base in one hand, the blade can be turned with the fingers and positioned at any angle relative to the base. The blade does not turn, but moves perpendicularly only, permitting depth measurement of narrow shoulders without the blade rolling off. Great too, for slots and recesses as narrow as .045”. Furnished with 2.1/2” or 4” base and 3 or 6 rods for measuring 0 to 3” or 0 to 6” in thousandths of an inch. The micrometer screw is precision ground and has a 1” movement. .001” graduation. MICROMETER DEPTH GAGE HALF BASE No. 443 Series Half base permits measuring depths of holes and slots close to shoulders and between obstructions. Quick reading graduations, every thousandth numbered. Rods have individual length adjustment. Used for determining the true size of holes, slots and recesses. The handle on No. 579 is rigidly attached to the contact plunger body and is automatically self-centering. Constant spring tension gives uniform contact pressure and both plungers are easily locked at any desired setting by a slight turn of the knurled screw in the end of the handle. The ends of both contacts are hardened and ground to a radius to give proper clearance for the smallest hole the gage will enter.
